John 12:44-50 – Jesus came to save the world not to judge

John 12:44-50 (ESVST)
44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.

Jesus was sent by God into the world to come and save the people. Those who believe in him, also believes in God.

45 And whoever sees me sees him who sent me.

Those who sees Jesus, also sees God as Jesus said in John 14:9-11 that he is in the father and the father is in him. So, when you see him, you see God.

46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

Jesus came into the world to tell the world about the truth so that those that believe his words, may have eternal life. This truth was the light and since it came through him, he was then the light of the world. The one who was going to light the path towards righteousness and eternal life. This is unlike the devil who is the darkness since he only spreads lies, in the process darkening the path to salvation.

47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

The words that Jesus spoke to the people, are the very same words that are going to judge all those who hear them but, do not keep them. Jesus did not come to the world to judge but instead, he came to save the world. He came to preach the truth and show us all, the light which shines on the path to salvation.

49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment — what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”

Here Jesus is saying, these words that he speaks, are not his words but God’s words. It is God who told him what to say. Jesus says those words that God commanded him to speak, those words are eternal life.
So when you believe in Jesus, you believe in God. When you see Jesus, you see God and when you hear the words of Jesus, you hear the words of God.
May all these words that are written here find a suitable soil in your heart, in Jesus name, amen.
