John 17:24-26 – Jesus’s High Priestly Prayer Part 9 – Jesus prays for all His disciples to be United in fellowship Part 2

John 17:24-26 (ESV Strong’s Bible)
” 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

In John 17:5, Jesus asked God to glorify him in His presence with the glory that He had with God before the world existed. Now, Jesus is asking God that His disciples may be with Him where He is, that is in heaven, so that they may see this same glory that God has given Him. Jesus is asking God to glorify Him and allow the disciples to come and see His Glory. Jesus in this verse indicates once more just like in John 17:5, that this glory that God has given Him, He gave Him before the foundation of the world because He loved Him. God loved and gave Jesus glory before the world existed.

25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.

Jesus starts by stating that God is righteous. Jesus said in  John 8:55 that He knows God and if He said that He did not know God, He would be a liar. In John 10:15 Jesus also said that He knows God. Now, in this verse, Jesus says that the world does not know God but He does and now His disciples know that God has sent Him.

26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.””

Jesus has already said in John 17:6 that He has manifested God’s name to the disciples and in John 15:15, Jesus said that all He has heard from God, He has made known to the disciples. In this verse Jesus repeats that He has made God’s name known to the disciples and He will continue to make it known so that the love that God has for Him, may also be in the disciples and His love also in them.
This concludes John Chapter 17.
