Fruits of the Holy Spirit – Love Part 3

3. How has God and Jesus loved us

A) God’s Love is:
Forgiving

Zephaniah 3:17 (AMP)
The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.

Giving and Helpful

Hosea 11:4 (AMP)
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love, and I was to them as one who lifts up and eases the yoke over their cheeks, and I bent down to them and gently laid food before them.

Everlasting
Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Great, Wonderful and intense
Ephesians 2:4 (AMP)
But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,

Inseparable
Romans 8:39 (AMP)
Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Unfailing
Isaiah 49:15-16 (AMP)
[And the Lord answered] Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
16 Behold, I have indelibly imprinted (tattooed a picture of) you on the palm of each of My hands; [O Zion] your walls are continually before Me.
As you can see, God’s love is also not a feeling but an action. The above list does not begin to even describe the true depth of God’s love for us. It is immeasurable and infinite. It was there, it is here and it will always be there.
B) Jesus’s love is:
Permanent
Romans 8:35 (AMP)
Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?

Restraining
2 Corinthians 5:14 (ESVST)
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this:that one has died for all, therefore all have died;

Unchangeable
John 13:1 (AMP)
[NOW] BEFORE the Passover Feast began, Jesus knew (was fully aware) that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to the Father. And as He had loved those who were His own in the world, He loved them to the last and to the highest degree.

Unquenchable
Song of Songs 8:7 (AMP)
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man would offer all the goods of his house for love, he would be utterly scorned and despised.
This is Jesus’s love for us. The above list does not begin to even describe the true depth of Jesus’s love for us. Both God and Jesus proved beyond a shadow of doubt how much they love us. First, by God allowing his only son to die and secondly, Jesus being prepared to die for us. This all happened while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8 (AMP)
But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.
