Divorce Part 4

Now for the difficult part, what do I do when I am in an abusive marriage?

If you are a believer, if you are a born again Christian, the first question you need to ask yourself is, How much do I trust God? Do I trust God enough to leave my life completely in his hands? If yes, then
The word of God agrees with you and says:

Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESVST)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESVST)
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Psalms 9:9-10 (NIV)
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

The biggest challenge we have with Christians is the inability by Christians to completely trust in God. The devil is succeeding more often than necessary in convincing us to think that we can do things on our own without relying in God. The devil succeeds in making us think that we don’t need God and God is not trustworthy enough to leave your life in his hands. I tell you today my brother or sister, the devil is a liar. God is trustworthy and will never forsake you.

The word of God says in the passage above, you must trust God with all your heart and not rely on your own understanding. This is the biggest problem. This is what keeps us from the blessings of God. We trust in our own wisdom better than we trust in God’s. God says he will make straight your path. If your path was not straight, He will make it straight.

Psalms 32:8 (ESVST)
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Not only will God make your path straight, he will instruct (the word instruct in the verse means to give understanding) and teach you in the way you should go. The word counsel in the verse means to give advice. God himself will not only give you understanding but, he will train and give you advice.
What must you do then? PRAY, PRAY AND PRAY. Never stop praying. Jesus told us to pray and never to give up praying
Luke 18:1 (ESVST)
1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.
To lose heart means to give up. Jesus said that if we ask anything in his name, without doubt, with good motives and according to God’s will, he will grant to us our request. Infect, we must be so confident that when we pray, we must already believe that we have revived what we have asked for.
Mark 11:24 (ESVST)
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
James 1:6 (ESVST)
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
James 4:3 (ESVST)
You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
1 John 5:14-15 (ESVST)
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

God hears the cries of His children.
Psalms 34:15 (NIV)
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
Whatever the type of problem you have in your marriage, ask God for help. Pray to God for guidance. The word of God says all things happen for good for those who love God
Romans 8:28 (ESVST)
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Whatever it is that is happening in your marriage, only God knows why and what the outcome will be. I know that because of the situation that you find yourself in currently in your marriage, things might be so bad that you think that it can never be corrected. Let me tell you something, it might seem impossible to you but, with God, all things are possible
Mark 10:27 (ESVST)
Jesus looked at them and said, “ With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
God is able to do far much more than we ask him
Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESVST)
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
However, if you are an unbeliever or do not trust God with your life, then you need to repent and give your life to God right now through Jesus Christ and all of the above will also apply to you. God cannot help you if you don’t have faith in him, God cannot help you if you don’t trust him and God cannot help you if you think you can do it yourself. Give your life right now to God. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart, then you will be saved.
Amen.
